No, you are never too old to join the Alabama Militia.
We have positions for everyone. We need people to help perform security, assist PrepSteaders, help with the field kitchen, set up radio nets and with training. We are certain that there is something that you can do and if not, we will make a place for you.
The highlighted section below explains this very clearly.

You are never too young to start learning how to be self sufficient through survival skills and firearm safety. To actively join the militia and participate in all training exercises, you must be 17 years of age. If you are under 17, you must have a parent with you but we also have a Prepsteader group that supports the Militia. That is a great way to start out and when you turn 17, you can then move to the Militia if you choose.
We welcome women to the organization. Men and women are accepted equally in the militia as well as in the PrepSteaders.
No matter what shape you are in physically, you are needed. You will be surprised at how quickly you will lose weight, gain endurance, and increase muscles with the monthly training exercises. If you are physically unable to participate in training due to age, injuries, or just arent interested in walking in the woods, but still want to contribute, the Alabama Militia also has Prepsteaders, Staff Positions, and a Base Defense Force. Our Base Defense Force is the primary security for our base operations and dose not require you to go on patrols. Their primary mission is to secure and maintain Base Operations and insure safety of our members.
There are several levels of involvement within the Alabama Militia and the PrepSteaders. It is entirely possible for someone to be extremely active and no one will be the wiser. No one talks about who attends meetings to anyone else. You will find most militia members expect and honor personal privacy.
Also, if you are an active member, the number of people who know your full name is minimal. We do not encourage underground cells, it’s hard to be of help to your community by not being known. Besides, those who want to be covert, or underground members draw attention to themselves for that very reason. You will be surprised at the quality and character of people active in the Alabama Militia.
Everyone is welcome, regardless of race, creed, gender, color, religion, or political affiliation, provided you do not wish to bring harm to our country or people.
NO ONE will be harassed because of such, we are all the same. Everyone is given the same respect. No speeches or preaching or even talk regarding the inferiority of any other race, creed, religion, etc. will be tolerated. Some members offer prayers prior to eating or other functions, but it is not a requirement that anyone participates. If you choose not to, no one will confront you about it. We do ask, as a courtesy, that you do not interrupt anyone during these times.
Yes, everyone is welcome. You would be surprised to find your common concerns are shared with many of our members. The more active you are within the Militia and PrepSteaders, the easier you will find yourself fitting in.
We teach you about firearm safety, shooting, survival, tactics, working as a team and more. We have instructors that have a wide variety of Military and Law Enforcement experience that will help and train you. Do not feel intimidated by a limited knowledge with guns, military items, etc. We were all in that same position at one time or another, we are glad to share our knowledge if you are willing to learn.
There are no Dues for being a member of the Alabama Militia. We ask that you cover your own costs for supplies, maybe add in a few dollars when the group eats as a unit to cover the cost of the food. We do take donation of equipment and supplies to assist other members in obtaining the equipment needed for training.
We may, at a later date request donations/dues from Staff Officers and NCOs to assist with obtaining the critical items we need to train, but it is not our intention to charge anyone to be a Patriot.
The only other cost in joining the Militia is in your acquiring the Uniforms, Head gear, Packs, Boots, Field Jackets, sleeping bag, unit patches, a radio etc. that are needed by you for in the field, and during training. Don’t forget, a weapon, ammo, cleaning kit etc.. These items don’t have to be bought on day one, but you will need to acquire them as soon as possible.
Contact us through our Contact Page and let us know your intentions or ask questions. We will be in touch with you as soon as possible.
Come to three Field Training Exercises (FTX) to show your commitment. Recruits may be asked to obtain a concealed carry permit as further proof of his or her ability to lawfully possess a firearm. A background check may be performed to ensure you are in fact a lawful citizen.
Membership is open to any person of good moral character who desires to join the Militia, and who is not any of the following;
1. A fugitive from justice
2. An alien illegally in the United States
3. A convicted felon (If you have expunged felonies and your rights restored, let us know)
4. A user of any unlawful drugs
5. Adjudicated mental defective
Failure to comply with these is grounds for immediate expulsion by your unit leader.

Alabama Militia focuses on actual training for both Militia Members and PrepSteaders. We use verified training methods and realistic goals for our training. Alabama Militia focuses on helping citizens be ready to serve their community with training such as defensive skills, battle drills, numerous other military skills, emergency communications, first aid, and general disaster preparedness.
Anyone can buy an Airsoft Gun and wear military gear and call themselves a Militia. Knowing actual tactics and strategies that are tried and tested, getting training that could save a life or prevent a death, and learning from people with experience is invaluable. Instead, there are groups that learn how to snipe someone from 25 yards away and pretend that you didnt get shot with a airsoft pellet, practice tactics that in real life would result in numerous deaths, and give the term Unorganized Militia a new meaning. Being a member of an Actual Militia that has goals and a focus on the future is a completely different experience. Many Militias insist that using toy guns to train give a great experience. If you are an expert with an Airsoft Gun, and then are put in an actual combat situation, muscle memory isnt going to help you when you find out that a real rifle has recoil, has to be zeroed when using different ammunition, doesnt stay on target after pulling the trigger, or that the guy you are waiting for to come into range has had you in range since before you seen him.
Our PrepSteaders are a key component of the Alabama Militia. They provide the support and logistics for the entire group. They learn to grow, make, store, and provide food, healthcare, and numerous other services for everyone, including our community. Their training include everything from food, medical, communications, security, child care, shelters, transportation, livestock, construction, herbal remedies, and much more. A Militia that can not support itself is doomed to fail in the first few weeks of deployment in a real world incident or disaster.
Alabama Militia has a lot of equipment used for our group. We can monitor and communicate throughout the world, securely survey disaster or operational areas, provide services to our community that are outside the scope of other Militias and Groups. We are a full spectrum Militia and often copied. Why go to the copy when you can be a member of the Alabama Militia?
